Taste of music

My mother once listened to Mozart to comfort herself before I was born. surely, this is true. In some degree, my parents thought of me as classical music lover because I always listened to Strauss, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. I have no idea why I eagerly listened to those kinds of music. But obviously, I am not enthusiastic music lover.
My eagerness to listen to music began when I listened to Led Zeppelin's legendary song " Stairway to Heaven". I haven't experience such a feeling-like I was clubbed.Actually that was 11 years ago and no one listened to rock music, all my friends listened to rhyme in textbook or some anime stuffs. I felt like I was isolated. I'll tell you what, when I was in the charge of tambourine, I played my role like Robert Plant in Led Zeppelin and was given a damn by my teacher saying like" Who do you think you are?? Behave yourself! You obviously ruined atmosphere in this class. think about it!" Well, everyone in the class was fund of music at that time. My exploration of music went another step. then, I'd like to thank my dad giving me a chance to listen to this song. without that experience, I'd never had the intention of being a English literature student. Have you ever experienced this feeling. Sometime I realize that this song was the first one I've ever loved to listen.

The Picture of Dorian Gray

I've finished housing for UCLA and am really relieved these days.
So, I've restarted reading again to prepare for my future study in the States.
I'd better to record my opinions about books I read and movies I see.

I'd like to review the novel called " The Picture of Dorian Gray" written by Oscar Wilde.

The story is not so complicated for his novels, though " The Importance of Being Ernest", I suppose, one of the most confusing plays in the world..

Dorian Gray, a brilliant and beautiful man, meets Lord Henry Wotton at the studio of Basil. He's using Dorian as a model for his painting. Henry tells Dorian about his epicurean view on life and the value of his beauty. Dorian was really moved by those words. When Basil shows his brand new painting of him, Dorian is overwhelmed by his fear; He is afraid of getting old and becoming ugly as time goes by. He becomes jealous because while he is getting old and gray, the picture remains the same. After that, he comes to wish that it would be the other way around. Soon after, Henry and Dorian Becomes friends because Henry is actually fascinated by his appearance, on the other hand, Dorian is still moved by his cynical words on men's lives. But Basil is afraid that Henry will give Dorian some bad influence and corrupt his youth. After the Dinner with Henry, Dorian confesses his love of Sybil Vane, young actress working in small theatre. Dorian promised to be married until Dorian, Basil, and Henry come to see her performance....

The main theme of this novel is obviously the influence and corruption of young man.
Dorian begins in this novel as innocent man, but later, under Henry's influence, he becomes corrupt, and gradually influence other youths himself. one of the questions in this novel is that the responsibility for the misdeeds done by the person, for Dorian in this novel, it is particularly Sybil's suicide. This novel can be seen as a kind of lesson in taking responsibilities for actions, but when reconsidering the situations of others,Dorian puts the blame at their own feet rather than considering the role that he might have played in their deadfall.

The second hidden theme of this novel maybe homosexuality, there are clearly undertones the relationship between Dorian and a few young man whose lives are said to have ruined, Alan Campbell.

I'm very sorry for my messing note, I just can't integrate my idea as thesis-typed style. obviously, the second theme needs to be concerned at once:(
Anyway, The movie version will be coming soon in the US!

I gotta go now, please listen to YYZ, Taken from the album " Moving Picture" by the Progressive Canadians rock band RUSH.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

I've totally forgotten the blog spot.
As I said I have 4 another blogs and seriously, I really was confused.

So, today I'd like to talk a little more about my surroundings.
It has been really hot these days hasn't it?
It has something to do with global warming? Does swine flu has something to do with that??

Last week, I was just like a machine, my task was to memorize my speech and complete 3 essays.
These tasks were quite tough for me, but I somehow could deal with it. So, I am very relieved and I'm feeling alive in a sense.

By the way, my housing for UCLA just kicked off and is almost completed.
All I have to do is to decide the payment system, credit or check.
Firstly, I need to get an account in Japan and America. Some say that Citi Bank stuffs are cool and useful, but others say that American bank is the most useful bank in California.
Anyway, I will have to get 2 accounts at least...One is to pay the rent, another is to check.

While I was thinking about those thing, I heard the news that new-flu case had appeared in Kanto Area. A news caster reported that the girl in Hachioji had contracted, according to Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
After that, I saw tons of people wearing masks tightly in Shirokane to try to protect from the virus.
For me, this is quite ridiculous, or even hilarious.

I saw some bottles of disinfectant in some super markets and every doorway of our university, but unfortunately, no one even cares about it.

I saw some TV programs which scare us with new-flu just like medieval pestilence in Europe.

I saw the TV commercial that Mr, Aso tells us like this " Don't panic, don't worry too much."

I love this situation, its just like a fake apocalypse.
What will happen next?
Obviously, we've experienced the North Korean missile and this Pandemic.
Will the next disaster be some kind of big earthquake??

I think during this year, we will feel quite insecure due to crisis.

I finished this article up with introduction of Metallica's song, " For Whom the Bell Tolls".
